The Rev. C. Shawn Samson, B.A., M. Div., S.T.M.
After graduating with his BA from Memorial University, Father Shawn entered Queen’s College to study for the degree of Master of Divinity. Graduating from Queen’s College on April 27, 1993, Father Shawn was ordained to the Deaconate at St. Michael’s and All Angels Church in Corner Brook on Sunday, May 2, 1993. From there he worked as summer relief in the Health Care Centres in St. John’s. In September on 1993 he worked in the Parish of Labrador West as a Deacon. Ordained to the Sacred Priesthood on Monday April 25, 1994 (The Feast day of St. Mark the Evangelist), Father Shawn returned to Labrador West as the Assistant Priest, from where he travelled to Rigolet on many occasions to conduct the divine liturgy for the coastal community. In September of 1995, Father Shawn moved to St. Mary the Virgin Parish in St. John’s as the Curate and Assistant Priest. Having spent three years at St. Mary’s he moved, in May 1998, to Carbonear, where he took up the position of Rector. While Rector of Carbonear he served as honorary hospital chaplain to the Avalon Health Care Board for the Anglican Church. While serving his incumbency in this Parish he also travelled to Nashotah House, Wisconsin to work on his Master’s of Sacred Theology. Leaving Carbonear in November 2003, he took over the Rectorship and incumbency of the Parish of The Holy Innocents. In addition to serving as Rector of the Parish of Holy Innocents, Father Shawn is also the Unit Padre and Chaplain to the 1st Battalion of the Royal Newfoundland Regiment and he serves the Diocese on many different committees. |
