The Anglican Parish of the Holy Innocents

Paradise, Newfoundland

December 9th, 2007                                                                                                            Advent II

Thank you to Rev. Trudy for celebrating today as Father Shawn is away on a continuing education week.  The Church office will reopen on Wednesday Morning.

On the bulletin boards in each porch is a list of monthly rentals.  The hall is used quite extensively, and we try not to rent the hall on Saturday evenings; however, if you or someone you know, wishes to rent the Parish Hall have them call the Parish office at 782-3071.

We are one year into paying off the loan which we acquired to do the $50,000.00 worth of work on the church last year.  We still need to raise approximately $25,000.00 to pay off the rest of the loan.  If you have not yet given to help with this expense, please consider a donation. If you have already pledged and given, we thank you most warmly.

There will be a class for the confirmation class of 2008 next Sunday the 16th of December during the service.

The Parish is again this year assisting the Newfoundland Chapter of the Canadian Hard of Hearing Association with the selling of tickets for the Dream Home.  If you can give a morning, afternoon or evening to help in this endeavor by selling tickets at the Avalon Mall, please contact Don Brinson.  Don has the list of times which we are asked to be at the Mall selling tickets.  Your assistance in this endeavor would be greatly appreciated

The tree for the Food Bank has been placed in the back of the church.  Please take a tag off the tree, and help to fill one of the hampers for this Christmas.  Last year there were approximately 300 hampers distributed in the Paradise, CBS area.  If you wish to make a donation for the cost of a turkey, please make the cheque payable to the parish, and we will make out a cheque to the food bank.  All items need to be in to the Parish food bank by Sunday December 16th If you take a tag for providing a turkey, can you please pass the money into the church via the collection plat on or before December 9th and please label the envelope “food bank” and mark your church envelope number on the envelope as well.

Flowers for Christmas: As is our custom, we decorate the church with flowers for Christmas.  If you would like to give a donation to the Christmas flower fund in memory of a loved one, please place it in an envelope and deposit it in the collection plate, the mail slot, or give it to Father Shawn by December 20th so the names can be included in the Christmas bulletin.  Any received after December 20th will be in the December 30th bulletin

The CLB is selling Pewter ornaments again this year titled “Santa  and the kids”.  These sell for $10.00 each and proceeds from the sale of these ornaments go to help the CLB in the Parish and the Diocese.  If you are interested in obtaining a Christmas Ornament call the church office at 782-3071.
